Jute and Synthetic Ghillie Suits
Ghillie suits come in two different camouflaging thread materials, Natural Jute and Synthetic Thread. It is usually a personal preference between the two.
Synthetic’s are lighter and can be washed or rinsed. However, some purists say that ghillie suits are not meant to be washed anyway and that natural jute looks more like nature.
Below are close up pictures of Jute and Synthetic threads on our Ghillie Suits. The natural jute is much more stiff and therefore straighter. The synthetic thread is much softer and curls more.

The picture below shows a natural jute ghillie suit and a synthetic suit side by side. The natural jute suit is on the top of the photo and the synthetic is below. You can clearly see that the natural jute is straighter than the synthetic. I would describe the difference between the two as spaghetti vs. linguine.

Both natural and synthetic thread ghillie suits work well. In the field, you cannot tell what material a ghillie suit is made of. The main differences between the two threads is weight and durability. The synthetic thread is lighter than the natural jute. All of our lightweight suits are made of the synthetic thread. The synthetic is also washable and waterproof. Below are two of the Ghillie kits that we sell.
