Pictures of the Bushrag Chameleon Ghillie Suit

December 9th, 2007

The Bushrag Chameleon Ghillie Suit is an ultra-light Weight one piece Ghillie Suit that weighs less than 3 lbs. and covers from head to boot. The leg portion is more like a raincoat bottom that covers you completely down to your toe.  This is not a one piece jumpsuit.  There are no zippers or buttons to step into it.   The photo below shows the Woodland pattern.

The suit is put on as you would put on a poncho.  In fact, it is basically an long poncho that runs down to the ground.

This synthetic suit contains more than 700 synthetic camo-leaves.  The leaves are tied into the netting.  The netting and sythentic leaves provide good air circulation so the suit is cooler than traditional ghillie suits.  It is also fire and water resistant.

The suit uses mainly synthetic leaves and very little jute thread.  Below is a close up photo of the front of the suit.  You can see how the synthetic leaves and jute blend together.

It comes with a large amount of additional leaves and plenty of jute in many colors (shown below) so that it can be adapted to better match your specific terrain.

Light weight Ghillie Suit pictures

November 17th, 2007

Here are pictures of the Light Weight Ghillie Suit.  It is a two piece suit made of synthetic fiber on a light weight mesh shell.  See pictures of the Mossy pattern in the field here.

Here are some close up photos:

This picture shows the what the jacket is made of.  It is a light weight mesh liner that feels smooth to the skin.

This photo shows the velcro tabs that fold the flap over the zipper thereby concealing it completely.

Here are the details of how the netting is attached to the pants.  The pants have an elastic waistband, a drawstring and also belt loops.

The photo below show the bottom of the pants.  There is a drawstring cord for you to tighten the ankles or to use to anchor the pants bottom to your boots.

Photos for Constructing your own Ghillie Suit

November 11th, 2007

There are so many pictures of Ghillie Suits in the field.  When I first started looking for information on how to make my own Ghillie Suit I could not find any close up pictures of them.  Most of the directions were text based and lacked pictures.  In fact, our directions don’t show photos either, but there are links to these picture pages.  Please check our blog often as I will be continually posting detailed pictures of ghillie suits.

Our this blog I want to eventually post pictures of all of our products on this blog.  The pictures below are from the Ghillie Suit Face Veil.  It’s also known as the Ghillie Suit Small Pack Cover.  This is a 2′x3′ net covered with jute.  This is a great all purpose Ghillie Accessory because it can be used to conceal any small to medium object.

You will notice that there are many white spaces in the photo above.  It is very important not to over jute your suit because you need the empty voids to create the 3-D effect.  If you put too many jute threads on your suit, it will begin to look like a fur coat instead of a ghillie suit.

Here are pictures of the netting and jute.  You can see the quality construction.   These are all hand made.  I hope these pictures will help the people who are constructing their own ghillie suits.  You can buy a ghillie kit which comes with the netting and jute that you see below.

Jute and Synthetic Ghillie Suits

November 4th, 2007

Ghillie suits come in two different camouflaging thread materials, Natural Jute and Synthetic Thread.  It is usually a personal preference between the two.

Synthetic’s are lighter and can be washed or rinsed.  However, some purists say that ghillie suits are not meant to be washed anyway and that natural jute looks more like nature.

Below are close up pictures of Jute and Synthetic threads on our Ghillie Suits.  The natural jute is much more stiff and therefore straighter.  The synthetic thread is much softer and curls more.

The picture below shows a natural jute ghillie suit and a synthetic suit side by side. The natural jute suit is on the top of the photo and the synthetic is below. You can clearly see that the natural jute is straighter than the synthetic. I would describe the difference between the two as spaghetti vs. linguine.

Both natural and synthetic thread ghillie suits work well. In the field, you cannot tell what material a ghillie suit is made of. The main differences between the two threads is weight and durability. The synthetic thread is lighter than the natural jute. All of our lightweight suits are made of the synthetic thread. The synthetic is also washable and waterproof.  Below are two of the Ghillie kits that we sell.
